About Foundregmaz
Built by translators, for serious learners.
Foundregmaz was started in 2019 by four translators and a language-acquisition researcher who'd grown frustrated with the polarized state of language-learning publishing — graded readers oversimplified to the point of insult on one end, untranslated literary fiction inaccessible at intermediate levels on the other. We built the middle ground we wished existed: real literature, parallel-text editions, native audio, calibrated to where serious learners actually live.
How we acquire titles
We license literary work from publishers across all twelve languages and commission new translations when existing translations don't meet our editorial standard. Parallel-text editions are typeset in-house. Audio is recorded by native speakers — actors, broadcasters, and trained narrators — at multiple speed variants.
How we grade difficulty
Every title is reviewed by two language editors with relevant credentials and graded against CEFR (B1–C2) for European languages and against JLPT, HSK, and TOPIK for Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean respectively. Grading notes appear in every title's metadata and are revisited annually.
Who we serve
Adult language learners at B1 and above. Language teachers building extensive-reading programs. Families with school-age learners. Translators studying contemporary literary translation in their working pairs. We're not built for absolute beginners — the Beginner's Method is the on-ramp, not the destination.
